Our Social Mission “TO SAVE PEOPLE’S SKIN” Our team took on this mission in 2013. Like a young adult who decides to give his or her life meaning, La Colline has chosen its path. This path has become a dear cause of our brand, in order to render skin grafts invisible in the future so that the skin can restore its beauty as it was before the graft. Why? Because we are already taking care of the skin in full health of our customers and the success of our products allows us to do more and better. Because losing all or part of one’s skin still involves many unpleasant consequences for those who experience it until today. Could you imagine no longer being able to swim in the sea? No longer being able to enjoy the sun? Losing many sensations connected to the sense of touch? Making regular visits to receive a new graft (in case of chronic ailments)? How? We decided to start with a small step: to achieve skin grafts faster and better. Faster, as it is now necessary to wait 28 days with the available techniques. And if the patient is not in a good enough condition to receive the graft, he or she often has to wait another 28 days. Better, on the one hand, we want to perform the grafts either earlier or later if necessary, and on the other we want to abolish the use of animal products, which are used in many production techniques. Where, and with whom? We all reflected on this together. Given our origin and its rank as one of the best in the world, the University of Zurich, the largest university in Switzerland, became our partner of choice to give life to our Social Mission: to save people’s skin. We therefore decided to set up a La Colline research team at the University of Zurich. In 2014, as our first action, we established a “La Colline PhD Fellowship” in the Reconstructive Medicine Department of the Zurich University Hospital and in partnership with the Regenerative Medicine Department that houses a GMP certification laboratory, one of the first in the world to be located at a university. In 2018, we have reached a new milestone in the accomplishment of our Social Mission: the laboratory where our teams work integrates with the Irchel Campus of the University of Zurich. This progress enables the teams to work with a network of researchers covering all disciplines of the University, in an environment that encourages invention and creative emulation. Our “La Colline Skin Engineering Lab“ was born. Follow the scientific news about our PhD here.
